Today’s review is for a K-Beauty gel cream moisturizer that I’ve been loving lately in my skincare routine: the Purito Oat-in Calming Gel Cream. It contains oats and panthenol. It feels like a watery burst of refreshment for my flaky, dehydrated face. Let’s discuss!

The first thing I noticed about this moisturizer was its jelly consistency. The watery gel-cream sinks into my dry areas quickly, leaving them feeling plumped-up and bouncy. It’s very lightweight on the skin and doesn’t leave a residue, but you still feel moisturized hours later. It reflects a bit of light once it’s dried down, giving me a gentle glow that’s not over-the-top shiny.
This gel cream is made up of 77% oat seed water, which is known for its soothing, skin-barrier repairing properties. I was hoping those oats would help with the redness on my cheeks, but I can’t say that I’ve seen a dramatic difference after four weeks of use. Maybe a subtle difference, but that might just be because of the hydration. I can say that my skin feels happier when I use this stuff, and I think that counts for something.
Where this product really benefits me is on my oily t-zone, particularly on my forehead, where I tend to get progressively shinier throughout the day. This seems to give that area exactly what it needs — enough hydration and moisture to calm down oil production, but not so much that my pores runneth over with product. I can make it through the day without my forehead turning into an oil slick, which I really appreciate. If you have oily skin, this is a good option for you.
Purito Oat In Calming Gel Cream Ingredients
Aside from the oat seed water, the Purito Oat In Calming Gel Cream has a few other beneficial ingredients. It contains glycerin, a humectant that helps draw moisture into the skin and keep it nicely hydrated, and squalane, an oily emollient ingredient that occurs naturally in human skin. Squalane not only keeps you nicely moisturized, studies show it can help prevent oxidative stress from free radical damage.
Other noteworthy ingredients include panthenol, a skin-conditioning ingredient with soothing properties, and beta-glucan, another humectant that helps with skin hydration. One study suggests beta-glucan may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Here’s a full ingredient list for the Purito Oat-In Gel Cream:

This moisturizer is vegan, fragrance-free, and contains no essential oils, silicons, or alcohols. The ingredient lineup appears ideal for sensitive-skinned folks, and indeed it is marketed that way. My skin is sensitized due to tretinoin and the changing seasons and this moisturizer did not cause any irritation or additional redness.
Purito is a K-Beauty brand that’s known for their environmentally-conscious practices, and the oat in gel cream’s recyclable packaging reflects that. The cap is made from recycled plastic and the bottle is paper-based and contains 58 percent less plastic than the average bottle according to Purito’s website.

Purito Oat-In Gel Cream: Takeaways
My cheeks are dry and need more moisture than I can find in a gel cream, so I’ve been using the Purito on its own during my morning routine (it plays well under makeup), then layering it under the Soon Jung 2x Barrier Cream and a layer of vaseline in the evening, like the essence step in my routine. I wake up with skin that feels smooth and nicely hydrated. If you are dry skinned, this might not be moisturizing enough for you on its own.
I should also mention that this product has a slight smell, despite what other reviewers have said. There’s a sort of fermented, beer-y scent that I assume comes from the oats. For me, it brings back memories of clearing away pints back in my bartending days. While it’s not unpleasant and it dissipates as soon as the product dries down, I imagine that not everyone would love it.
But hey, when you seek out fragrance-free skincare products, as so many do, you are left with the way the product *actually* smells. This one smells a bit like warm beer.
So that’s my review of Purito’s Oat In Gel Cream. I am enjoying it a lot and I am planning to repurchase. I hope you found this review helpful. Now I’m curious to hear about your experience. Drop me a comment if you’ve tried this and let me know what you think.
xoxo,
Alex
